Geological Mapping

GeoConsult utilises a methodical approach to capture significant information in images based on 'fundamental element' pattern recognition techniques. This method systematically annotates information that may lead to previously unrecognised stratigraphic and structural environments. Our mapping service -

  • Characterises stratigraphy by identifying discrete tonal, textural, erosional resistance and geomorphic responses.
  • Facilitates rapid recognition of geological tracts, regional, structures as well as facies variation.
Personnel

GeoConsult has over 15 years experience in most climatic and geological terrains and the resources to provide these services in a timely and cost effective manner. We can provide experienced personnel to -

  • field-check interpretive maps; or
  • undertake detailed geological mapping; and
  • measure geological sections.
Data

The variety of types of datasets are used and 'hybrid maps' are often used to provide additional value in locating suitable environments to refine exploration targets. Geological mapping is generally lithofacies and structure orientated using datasets that are integrated from -

  • Aerial and Landsat photography.
  • Existing geological information sourced from the government and public domain.
  • Field exploration programs.
  • Remote sensing and other geophysical methods.
  • Interpreted drainage for geochemical exploration.
  • Regolith maps.
  • Hydrogeological surveys information.
  • Geomorphical maps.

GeoConsult offers a complete range of services from data acquisition, image manipulation (available in a MapInfo, VULCAN or ERMapper formats), interpretation, and digital capture to professional report writing. GeoConsult welcomes any inquiries regarding image interpretation that you may possess.
