Shale gas refers to natural gas that is trapped within shale formations. Shales are fine-grained sedimentary rocks that can be rich sources of petroleum and natural gas.

Desorbed gas measurements (Q2) are taken regularly in our climate and temperature controlled field laboratory.

Shale is a fine-grained sedimentary rock that forms from the compaction of silt and clay-size mineral particles. Shale is distinguished from other mudstones because it is fissile and laminated.
